Donate A Blanket

As the row over foreign aid for flood-ravaged Kerala escalated, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had in 2016 suggested assistance offered as a goodwill gesture "may" be accepted by India, bolstering the stand taken by Chief Minister Pinarayi there is no blanket ban.

It was very difficult to control my emotions.While sitting in a comfortable home fitted with all amenities, nobody can imagine the plight of such people.

Students from 27 schools in Kerala regions have collected Rs 4 lakh, voluntarily donating a single rupee a day over a sustained period, and have dedicated it to homeless people in North India, to help them fight the cold by buying them blankets under NDTV and Uday Foundation's "Blanket Drive".

The Syrian refugee woman pushed through the crowd into the dusty grocery, where she was told she could register to receive donated blankets from an international aid agency. She didn't stay long. The shopkeeper demanded a $13 bribe to put her name on the list.

As part of NDTV's blanket campaign, our team visited AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital to distribute blankets among the homeless people who are compelled to spend their nights out in the open on the pavements and along the roadside. Volunteers from all walks of life poured in to be a part of this special campaign. With Christmas just around the corner ...

Thank you for your overwhelming participation in our blanket donation initiative. New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV), in collaboration with the Uday Foundation in Delhi, had initiated a drive to provide blankets to Muzaffarnagar riot victims, people living in flood affected villages of Uttarakhand, and to the homeless in Delhi.

Thousands of people in Delhi are in need of your help. Please donate blankets for them. You can drop off the blankets at the NDTV Office between 8 am and 9 pm.
