An artist in the United Kingdom recently achieved his childhood dream of living in a house full of doodles. Sam Cox, who is professionally known as Mr Doodle, covered every inch of his house, from his bedding to his bathtub, with doodles.

Today's Google doodle celebrates the Anglo-Indian traveller, Sake Dean Mahomed. Mahomed, an entrepreneur, is known for building cultural connections between India and England. On this day, 225 years ago, Mahomed became the first Indian author to publish a book in English.

"You stole our idea" - the words echoed at a distance but caught his attention as he was busy drawing doodles on a note pad. He was physically there, but seemed pensive, elsewhere. His thoughts were back at his makeshift office at Harvard, where a tiny team working out of his dorm room in Kirkland House was busy writing endless pages of code. A cod...

It was on August 15th, 1947, after a long battle for independence against the British rule, the front page of The Times of India read, "Nation Wakes to New Life!" Today's Google Doodle celebrates 71 years of Independence with a paper-cut style doodle designed by Mumbai-based artist Sabeena Karnik, depicting the Parliament House in Delhi.
