The CBI today filed a closure report in the case related to Dr YS Sachan's death in a Lucknow jail last year, saying forensic evidence pointed to a suicide. Dr Sachan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer in the Family Welfare Department of the UP government, was found dead in the jail toilet on June 22, 2011.

UP govt recommends CBI inquiry into Dr Sachan's murder

A judicial inquiry yesterday confirmed that Dr Sachan, who was found dead in a Lucknow jail last month, had been killed. Jail officials had earlier insisted that he had committed suicide. Post-mortem reports showed he had serious injuries from what appeared to be a sharp weapon.
