Swiggy has entered into a partnership with Garuda Aerospace to begin trial runs using drones to deliver groceries in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, Karnataka. The pilot project will assess the viability of using drones in Swiggy's grocery delivery service Instamart.

The Civil Aviation Ministry started the registration process for non-compliant drones which were not registered with the aviation regulator DGCA and have not been granted drone acknowledgement numbers (DANs), from June 8.

The Aviation Ministry on Monday announced a scheme providing a window up to January 31 for voluntary registration of all drones and their operators, days after top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US drone attack.

The regulation would require drone owners to place their registration number on the outside of their devices.

Civil Aviation Ministry announced Saturday it has started the registration process for drone operators in the country, to be done through a portal called 'Digital Sky'.

India could soon see the use of drones for transporting organs and other emergency medical supplies between hospitals under the new policy for remotely piloted aircraft, the official registration process for which began on Friday.

Rules released by the FAA require registration of small unmanned aircraft weighing more than 250 grams and less than 25 kilograms including payloads such as onboard cameras.

The recommendations were made by the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Registration Task Force.

The regulator said that drone owners don't need to pay a "drone registration" firm to do it for them.

Certain types of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), as drones are officially known, could be exempt including "toys" and other small devices.

A Pakistani court yesterday dismissed a plea by the police and ordered them to register an FIR against two former CIA officials, including the ex-station chief, for their alleged role in a surgical drone strike that killed the family members of an anti-drone activist in 2009.

The Centre issued fresh norms for the usage of drones in the country. The relaxation in rules stipulate no security clearance is now required before any registration or licence issuance for the operation of drones.
