Adani Enterprises said on Friday it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 50 per cent stake in General Aeronautics Private Limited, which provides commercial drone-based solutions for crop protection.

Government aims to promote Kisan drops to support crop assessment, digitisation of land records, as well as spraying of pesticides and nutrients. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar informed that the government has already made a budget provision to ensure this development.

The government has released standard operating procedure (SoP) for use of drones for the purpose of spraying pesticides on agriculture crops, a move welcomed by industry body CropLife India on Thursday.

During the visit, the Minister declared open the vermicompost unit, pellatization of forage crops for production of nutritive fodder pellets for enhancing livestock productivity.

The government has allowed Hyderabad-based International Crops Research Institute (ICRISAT) to use drones for agricultural research activities, an official release said on Monday.

The Maharashtra government, for the first time, will be using drones to monitor the drought-hit Osmanabad district for loss of crops due to water scarcity. The data gathered by these machines will determine the compensation to be paid to the farmers.
