Drugs Seized In Mizoram

In Assam's biggest-ever drug haul, over 20 kg of heroin worth a staggering Rs 210 crore has been recovered from a vehicle that had entered the state from Mizoram, officials said on Thursday.

The Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, in a joint operation, seized 11.397 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin worth more than Rs 35 crore in the Champhai district of Mizoram on Wednesday, officials said.

Mizoram police on Tuesday seized a large quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 31 crore in the Champhai district.

Upon thorough search of the vehicle, bearing a registration number of Mizoram, the security team recovered 5.1 kg of heroin, 64,000 yaba tablets and four packets of foreign cigarettes.
