India will soon embark on the second phase of the Passport Seva Programme (PSP-Version 2.0), which includes new and upgraded e-passports, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced on the occasion of Passport Seva Divas.

E-Passports, announced to be under development in the Budget 2022 speech, are being tested for security, Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar said on Friday.

At the Union Budget 2022 session, Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman said that e-passports with embedded chip and futuristic technology will be rolled out in 2022-23 to help citizens in their overseas travel.
