Earthquakes Prone Cities

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck 104 km (65 miles) off Taiwan's coastal city of Hualien on Tuesday, the island's weather bureau said, with no immediate reports of damage.

Twenty-nine Indian cities and towns, including Delhi and capitals of nine states, fall under "severe" to "very severe" seismic zones - highly vulnerable to earthquakes - according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

At least 38 Indian cities lie in high-risk seismic zones and nearly 60 percent of the subcontinental landmass is vulnerable to earthquakes. Barring rare exceptions, such as the Delhi Metro, India's hastily-built cities are open to great damage from earthquakes.
