The Goa government on Wednesday launched ''112'' as the new integrated emergency number for police, fire and medical emergencies replacing the traditional dial number ''100''.

The Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is an integration of police (100), fire (101), health (108) and women (1090) helpline numbers to provide emergency services through the single number ''112''.

Delhi Police informed the Home Ministry that many calls via telephone number 100 do not get through due to congestion in the network.
