Engineer Arrested For Accepting Bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a sub-engineer of the civic building and factories department, while allegedly accepting a Rs 8.5 lakh bribe for not taking action against illegal construction in a Bandra chawl.

The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested the chief engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department and a private person while accepting a bribe of Rs 10.40 lakh, officials said.

A junior engineer and a lineman of Jaipur Discom and a village development officer were arrested today for allegedly accepting bribes, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a sub-divisional engineer of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in Maharashtra's Solapur for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.30 lakh to settle pending RAR bills.

The CBI has arrested an executive engineer of the North Central Railways for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a contractor for processing payments and granting other favours, officials said today.

The accused will be produced in a special Anti-Corruption Bureau court.
