E-voting In Gujarat Polls

Gujarat government is now planning to extend the e-voting facility to panchayat polls, despite the lukewarm response it got in the recent municipal polls.

E-voting introduced by Gujarat State Election Commission (EC) for polling in six municipal corporations held yesterday, had very few takers as only 806 people voted online out of the total of over 95.9 lakh voters.

Over 20,000 people have registered themselves with the Gujarat State Election Commission (SEC) for online voting in the polls of six municipal corporations to be held on November 22.

E-voting had not generated much enthusiasm among the voters. The charm for the innovative way of voting wore off further as only 124 voters tried their hands at e-voting against the registered 183 voters.
