PM Modi, US President Biden Announce Plans for New Chip Plant in India

The US and India reached an agreement to work together on setting up a semiconductor fabrication plant in India. The proposed plant will make infrared, gallium nitride and silicon-carbide semiconductors, according to a White House readout that followed a meeting between the US President Joe Biden and PM Modi in Delaware on Saturday.

TSMC to Get $4.9 Billion in Subsidies From Japan to Build Second Chip Plant

TSMC will get up to more subsidies from the government of Japan in order to help the chipmaker build a second fabrication plant in Japan. The company will receive 732 billion yen ($4.86 billion) more in subsidies from Japan. TSMC, which is also expanding in the US and Germany, plans to ramp up to mass production in Japan before the end of the year.
