Facebook Post By Murder Accused

A social media post, by an accused in the killing of a Youth Congress activist five years ago, has put the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala in the dock, as opposition Congress today attacked the party and demanded a CBI probe in the sensational case.

On February 11, 2014, the day Sheena Bora would have turned 26, her mother Indrani Mukerjea posted on Facebook a picture from Goa, which got several likes and comments. No one knew then that Sheena had been murdered two years ago, and that Indrani would come to be accused of the crime.

In the backdrop of the controversy triggered by Facebook posts made by some accused in a political murder case lodged in a prison in Kozhikode, authorities today conducted a thorough search of the prison complex.

After photos of prisoners accused of murdering a Kerala politician were posted on Facebook by one of them, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan visited the jail in Kozhikode, 300 km from the capital Thiruvanathapuram.
