Centre Relaxes Family Pension Rules For Missing Government Employees

Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said family pension rules for missing central government employees have been relaxed. According to the order, if a central government employee goes missing during service, the family would be paid the pension.

On death of a Government servant while in service, the family is entitled to a family pension in accordance with Rule 54 of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972.

The Madras High Court has ruled that if a pensioner goes missing for more than two years, then his wife is entitled to receive the family pension, provided she executes necessary undertaking including indemnity bond.
