Farakka Feeder Canal

State-owned power producer NTPC has been forced to shut 1,600 MW electricity generating units following dip in Farakka canal water level due to diversion of water to Bangladesh but insisted there will be no shortage of power in West Bengal.

Abysmally low level of water in the Farakka Feeder Canal has caused the National Power Thermal Power Corporation to shut down five units of its power plant at Farakka in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
