10 more people died today from consuming spurious liquor, taking the number of deaths in Uttar Pradesh's Etah and Farukhabad to 24. The accused has been arrested and 11 officials in police and excise department have been suspended for dereliction of duty.

Pandit Shankar Ghosh was honoured with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2000. He followed the Farukhabad gharana of Hindustani classical music and has also taught table to a large number of students in Kolkata as well as Europe

One more person succumbed to injuries today, putting the death toll in the roadways bus mishap in Etah to 22 even as a search was on for some missing passengers.
