Kerala filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, one of 49 signatories behind an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today trolled BJP spokesman B Gopalakrishnan for suggesting he shift to the Moon if he did not want to hear "Jai Shri Ram"

"In a democracy, censorship has no place. Censorship works only in dictatorships, not in democracy. I am opposed to any kind of censorship," Mr Gopalakrishnan said while promoting his film at the Press Club here on Tuesday

Sunanda, the wife of veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, died at a hospital in Mumbai, the family said on Wednesday. She was undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. The couple has a daughter, Aswathi, who is a cop serving in the Indian Police Service (IPS) and is currently posted in Mumbai along with her husband

"The FTII has contributed hundreds of directors and technicians and has played an important role in the Indian film industry. People with wrong ideas will be disastrous for the institution" the distinguished filmmaker said
