The railways will install an advanced, multi-level fire detection and response system in premier trains like Rajdhani Expresses and the upcoming Tejas Express.

The fire in Tamil Nadu Express on Monday was the fourth such incident since last year but there are no effective measures including installation of fire and smoke detection alarms in trains.

Even as Visakhapatnam has emerged as the health hub of the north coastal Andhra and neighbouring Odisha and Chhattisgarh, fire safety arrangements continue to be poor at a majority of the hospitals in the city, ringing alarm bells for the patients and their families.
