While his son Tejashwi Yadav and wife Rabari Devi managed to get regular bail from the CBI court they could not get provisional bail from the Enforcement Directorate court in the IRCTC case, in which the entire family is facing charges.

RJD president Lalu Prasad was released from a Ranchi jail on Wednesday, after the trial courts granted him permission in accordance with the six-week interim bail granted to him by the Jharkhand High Court in three fodder scam cases on medical grounds, following which the former Bihar chief minister flew down to Patna.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav and 15 others was convicted on Saturday in the "fodder scam", a corruption case over the embezzlement of over Rs 85 lakh in government funds in the 90s. Mr Yadav, who was earlier convicted by a trial court and sentenced to five years in jail over a similar case in 2013, will be taken to jail.
