A major female foeticide ring has been busted in the state, with the arrest of nine people, including two doctors, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said on Tuesday.

The Maharashtra police have found 19 aborted female foetuses wrapped in blue plastic bags and buried near a sewer in a village in the state's Sangli district, in what they called a "feoticide racket" run by a homeopathy doctor who is on the run.

Doctor couple Sudam and Saraswati Munde, accused of running an illegal abortion and female foeticide racket in Beed district and who gave themselves up to the Parli police on Sunday evening, travelled through seven states and frequently changed their mobile handsets and SIM cards while on the run for nearly a month.
