Four Die Of Illicit Liquor

Two persons died and four others fell ill after consuming suspected illicit liquor at a village in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district, police said on Thursday.

Four people died while three more took ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in a village here, police said on Sunday.

At least 20 people have died in the last three days in four different localities of Sonipat city in Haryana with police suspecting spurious liquor as the cause behind the deaths, officials said on Wednesday.

Fourteen people, most of them labourers, died in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, after consuming what was suspected to be illicit liquor. The police have arrested 10 people while the authorities suspended four policemen including a police station in-charge, a sub-inspector and two constables.

At least 32 tea plantation workers, including nine women, died in Assam from drinking toxic illicit liquor, while at least 50 have been admitted to a hospital. Four of them are critically-ill, a doctor said.
