Cases of suicide and fratricide are going up by the year in the Central Armed Police Forces. A Task Force appointed by the Union Home Ministry has found the triggers include issues related to humiliation, harassment and leave-related concern.

The government on Wednesday termed as "mistaken fratricide" the shooting down of its own helicopter by the Indian Air Force in Kashmir on February 27 when India and Pakistani forces were engaged in a dogfight.

A total of 310 army personnel have committed suicide since 2014 while 11 cases of fratricide were reported during the period, the government told Rajya Sabha today.

There have been 69 cases of suicide in the Indian Army this year besides an incident of fratricide, the government said today.
