Preparations are under way in Karnataka for Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival that marks the day when the sun starts to travel northwards from the tropic of Capricorn, marking the decline of winter.

Members of NKS Kutumba, a city-based Non-Government Organisation began their walk from Lalbagh West Gate towards Krishna Rao Park, Basavangudi, Gandhi Bazar and then back to Lalbagh on Sunday to spread awareness about the usage of plastic bags.
