Women around the world have been hurt financially by the coronavirus outbreak, but the situation in India is more precarious for them than almost anywhere else. For women in India already suffer from a wide gender gap in employment, wages and education.

Working women in Britain face a 100 year wait to be paid the same as men, with progress towards closing the gender pay gap stalling as younger women's wages lag behind, a women's rights group said.

Kangana Ranaut said, "I can't sit on a set pampering the male ego, just because it's the easier way to get your way around men"

In a research conducted by Dr. Laura Langner at the University of Oxford's Department of Sociology it has been found that once men started working flexible hours, women's hourly wages increased.

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, who is currently in New Delhi, spoke to NDTV's Sreenivasan Jain. In an exclusive conversation, the Oscar-winning actress said there were fewer 'women-centric roles' in Hollywood and that the gender wage gap that existed in the industry was 'not right.'

"I started working when I was 14. I don't think things are so bad. We have all had extraordinary opportunities. But I just think it's about the desire to make more opportunities and the desire to allow female directors a far better road and the ability to make more opportunities," the Oscar-winning actress told NDTV's Sreenivasan Jain
