Ghatkopar Building Collapse

A 94-year-old woman and a man aged 56 were found dead on Monday in the debris of a ground-plus-three storey building which collapsed in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai the previous day, a civic official said.

Four people have been safely rescued and two people are still trapped inside a portion of a 3-storey building collapsed in Rajawadi Colony, Ghatkopar (East), said an official on Sunday.

When rescuers finally managed to reach 50-year-old Pragya Jadeja trapped underneath the rubble of a four-storey building that collapsed in east Mumbai's Ghatkopar on Tuesday, her desperation peaked into a hopeless cry: "Please cut my hands but pull me out of the debris."

The building collapse in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area echoed in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today with the opposition forcing three adjournments while demanding an immediate discussion over the incident.
