The staffers at a toll plaza in UP's today ran away, leaving the booth unattended for hours after a BJP legislator confronted them for allegedly collecting toll "illegally".

The Masuri police on Tuesday charged 159 persons for blocking National Highway-24 near Dasna Toll plaza on Monday evening while protesting over the death of a mechanic.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has suspended its dharna at Dasna toll plaza till December 13 while the district administration has slapped notices on six of its leaders for obstructing routine functioning.

Barely a day after a toll plaza attendant was shot dead in Gurgaon, five armed men in a mini-truck refused to pay toll fee of Rs.150 at a toll collection centre in Ghaziabad and thrashed four attendants, police said on Saturday. The men also escaped with around Rs.40,000 in cash.
