An elderly village witch doctor in Indonesia entrapped a 12-year-old girl and tricked her into having sex with him for the next 15 years by claiming to be possessed by the "jin", or spirit, of a young boy, police said on Tuesday.

A deaf and mute girl smuggled to Britain and kept as a slave for almost a decade must be paid 100,000 pounds ($160,000) by her captors, a court ruled on Wednesday.

A German girl has been rescued by Bosnian police after allegedly being held captive by a couple for eight years during which she was forced to eat pig feed and pull a horse-cart. A neighbour who raised the alarm told AFP he witnessed the couple treating the girl, now 19, like an animal.
