Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that his government is reducing the qualifying age for old-age pension from 60 to 50 and that 75% of jobs will be reserved for locals in companies that set up offices in the state.

Seeking 100 per cent reservation for locals in government jobs, members of different students' organisations took to the streets of Jharkhand on Wednesday morning to enforce a state-wide shutdown.

Demanding 100 per cent reservation for local people in government jobs in Jharkhand, hundreds of youths on Monday sought to gherao Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemanta Soren's residence but the police stopped them before they reached there.

The Jharkhand government has given its nod to a proposal for granting 77 per cent reservation in state government jobs for the members of the SC, ST, backward classes, OBC and economically weaker sections, an official said.

Announcing a host of welfare measures on the Republic Day, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday said that his government will soon formulate a new domicile policy and reserve 75 per jobs in the private sector for the people of the state.

So far, the state government has not conducted Civil Services exam for the year 2017, 2018 and 2019. It had planned to conduct a combined exam for all the three years and had released a notification in February, 2020. However, two days later the notice was withdrawn.

Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has announced 380 Medical officer vacancies.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has promised 67 per cent reservation to STs, OBCs and SCs, and government jobs to local people if it forms the government in the state after Assembly elections.
