The house of Manipur PWD Minister Konthoujam Govindas in Bishnupur district was vandalised on Wednesday by a group of people claiming that the government in the strife-torn state is not doing enough to protect locals from militants.

Govindas Konthoujam, a potential Chief Ministerial face for the Manipur Congress till recently, today joined the BJP. He had quit his former party only some ten days ago, less than a year after being made its state unit President.

In fresh trouble for the Congress in Manipur, Govindas Konthoujam has resigned as state party chief and eight party MLAs are set to quit and join the ruling BJP, sources told NDTV.
