Tamil Nadu Granite Scam: Enforcement Directorate Attaches Over 500 Properties Worth Rs 200 Crore

Former Union minister M K Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi, who has been granted anticipatory bail in the alleged granite quarrying scam, today filed a plea in the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai seeking a direction to a lower court to return his passport to enable him go abroad in connection with his business Interests.

Officials from the Madurai district administration in Tamil Nadu are conducting raids at 175 granite quarries across the district. The former Collector of Madurai Mr Sagayam, who was recently transferred, had alleged major violations by many granite quarries and had estimated a loss of more than sixteen thousand crore rupees to the state exchequer.
