The National Anti-Profiteering Authority has found L'Oreal India guilty of not passing on GST rate cut benefit worth over Rs 186.39 crore to customers

The five-member authority is mandated to ensure that benefits of GST are passed on to consumers.

The Union Cabinet has approved setting up of a National Anti-profiteering Authority under the GST, as it seeks to ensure that consumers get the benefit of reduced prices under the new indirect tax regime.

This reflects government's full commitment to take all possible steps to ensure benefits of implementation of GST to the common man, said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Parliament will today debate and vote on four supporting bills crucial to the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, which will subsume a slew of indirect taxes currently levied by the centre and states.
