The nationwide lockdown to fight coronavirus has been extended till June 30, but malls, restaurants and religious places can reopen from June 8 except in containment zones, or areas sealed because of a large number of virus cases.

The nationwide lockdown must be extended by 15 more days after May 31 as coronavirus cases are rising, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday, a day after his discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah. But he called for reopening malls, gyms and restaurants with half the staff and virus precautions like social distancing.
