The price of Amul milk across all variants has been hiked by Rs 2 per litre with effect from Monday in view of the increase in the overall cost of operation and production of milk, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) said.

For the first time, Amul fresh milk will be available outside India, with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) launching four variants of milk in the US market within a week, to cater to the Indian community and Asian population.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the federation, made it clear that the hike in milk prices is not applicable to Gujarat and the new rates are meant only for other markets, including Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi.

RS Sodhi on Monday resigned as the Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), whichmarkets its products under the Amul brand.

The Delhi High Court has sought the response of Google and Facebook on a plea moved by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Limited, which sells milk and dairy products under the Amul trademark, seeking removal of certain videos alleging that those are cruel to cows.

Amul will increase the price of its milk by Rs 2 per litre across several states from Tuesday to compensate for an increase in production costs, news agency PTI quoted the dairy major as saying in a release today. It had last revised the price in March 2017.
