Amid a sharp rise in coronavirus cases, the Haryana government on Tuesday said that prohibitory orders will be imposed throughout the state.

All large gatherings have been banned in Haryana's Gurugram, Sonipat, Hisar, Faridabad and Panchkula from today amid a massive surge in coronavirus cases across the country in the second and more deadly second wave.

With high levels of pollution impacting the city, Gurgaon district administration on Sunday exercised section of 144 of CrPC and banned the burning of waste, garbage and other materials openly.

As violence spread to more areas in Haryana today due to pro-reservation protest by the Jat community, the administration clamped prohibitory orders in Gurgaon for two days.

The Gurgaon district magistrate (DM) on Wednesday invoked Section 144 CrPC and directed all bank managers in the town to install CCTV cameras, and set up proper lighting and adequate security in each ATM within 15 days of this order.

The district magistrate (DM) of Gurgaon on Friday again invoked Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for banning hookah bars in the district, an official said.

The Gurgaon administration on Tuesday banned hookah bars in the entire district, a Haryana government spokesman said. "District Magistrate P.C. Meena has today (Tuesday) banned hookah bars in the district. He has invoked Section 144 of Cr PC 1973 for this purpose," he said
