Both the Home Ministry and the West Bengal police have blamed the Maoists for the train disaster in Midnapore. The Maoists have denied any role in the tragic incident.

In a snub to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee's demand, the West Bengal government on Monday ruled out a CBI inquiry into the May 28 Gyaneshwari Express disaster in West Midnapore district which claimed 148 lives.
