The Tejas aircraft that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sortie in today is a light combat fighter jet indigenously built by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

State-run aerospace giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) today said it has placed an order of Rs 5,375 crore for 99 F404-GE-IN20 engines and support services with US' GE Aviation to power the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's Tejas Light Combat Aircraft's second production line on Tuesday, according to HAL officials.The event comes a day before the opening of the AeroIndia 2021, the country's premier aerospace and Defence exhibition at Air Force Station, Yelahanka on Wednesday.

State-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) on Monday said it has rolled out its 16th Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter in the initial operational clearance (IOC) configuration to be inducted into the fleet of Indian Air Force (IAF).
