Hardware Production Linked Incentive Scheme

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced a significant milestone in India's IT hardware sector, stating that 27 companies have received approval under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) within a short timeframe.

Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said that an excellent response has been received for the production of laptops and PCs under the hardware Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI).

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs. 17,000 crore-incentive to boost local manufacturing of IT hardware like tablets and laptops, and the scheme is projected to generate an incremental production worth Rs. 3.35 lakh crore over a period of six years.

The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the Production Linked Incentive Scheme 2.0 for IT Hardware with a budgetary outlay of Rs 17,000 crore.

The Central government will soon launch an information technology server and IT hardware production linked incentive (PLI) scheme, and also offer additional incentives for manufacturers that incorporate Indian-designed intellectual property into their products, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Tuesday.
