Three people were killed and at least six injured after a house collapsed in Haridwar district as heavy rain wreaked havoc in various parts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday evening.

After Haridwar was hit by heavy rainfall, many vehicles parked in a cremation ground were washed away by the strong currents of a seasonal river.

Rains lashed many places in Uttarakhand on Sunday, triggering landslides that blocked several roads, even as Ganga crossed the danger mark in Devprayag and warning level in Haridwar due to heavy release of water from the dam on the Alaknanda river.

Three people, including a seven-year-old child, died in flood-related incidents caused by incessant rains in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, officials said on Friday.

Parts of Haridwar city got waterlogged owing to heavy rainfall since late night on Saturday. Areas like Jwalapur, Kankhal, Ranipur Maud, Roshanabad in the city have been affected.

The registration of pilgrims for the Kedarnath yatra was on Sunday suspended till April 30 in Rishikesh and Haridwar due to rain and snowfall in the upper reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas, officials said.

Heavy rain lashed large parts of North India, causing landslides at a number of places in Uttarakhand that claimed four lives. Delhi received rain overnight, causing waterlogging in a number of areas. Traffic jams have also been reported from across the national capital.

The Indian Railways will be allowing people rescued from Uttarakhand to travel free of cost, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said today. Extra rakes will also be added in Haridwar, to accommodate the rush of people .

Forty one bodies of flood victims were today recovered from Haridwar, taking the toll in rain-ravaged Uttarakhand to over 200. Operations to rescue over 9,000 people, stranded in Kedarnath and Badrinath, meanwhile have been stepped up with the deployment of 43 helicopters.
