Haryana Government Trouble

BJP's former ally Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) on Wednesday said it is ready to help the Congress bring down the BJP government in Haryana, a day after three Independent MLAs withdrew support to it.

The latest ally to warn the ruling BJP over the unabated farmer protests is the party of Dushyant Chautala, the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana. The government must think big and find a solution to the farmers' demands, the party's chief Ajay Chautala said today.

The Supreme Court warned the Haryana government on Friday that it will be in "trouble" if it has done "anything" with Aravalli hills or forest area by passing amendments to an Act to allow construction there.

The BJP's attempt to placate agitating Jats and end the violence sweeping Haryana has run into trouble from within the party. Party lawmaker from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini has condemned the decision of the centre and the state governments, both led by his party, to agree on giving Jats reservation in jobs and higher education.

The BJP today rushed a senior party leader to make peace between Haryana Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his health and sports minister Anil Vij. For weeks, Mr Vij has been seen to be taking potshots at his boss on Twitter, to the great delight of the opposition Congress.

There seems to be some more trouble brewing for Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda over land acquisition in the state. This time, the state government has been accused of diverting 42 acres of land for building memorial in Rohtak district for the Chief Minister's father Ranbir Hooda, who was a freedom fighter.
