Budget 2020: Rs 69,000 Crore Allocated For Health Sector

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced an outlay of about Rs 69,000 crore for the health sector in the 2020-2021 fiscal, with Rs 6,400 crore earmarked for the Centre's flagship health insurance scheme Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).

The healthcare sector received a major boost today with the Prime Minister ordering massive increase in the outlay. The spending on the health sector has now been increased from 1.4% to 2.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the 12th five-year plan.
