North and central India are expected to witness a rise in maximum temperatures in the next two-three days with heat wave like conditions in Marathwada, Vidarbha, Odisha and West Bengal.

After touching season's high in Nagpur on Thursday, the mercury dropped slightly to 46 degree Celsius in the second capital of Maharashtra on Friday.

Nagpur was today the hottest city in Vidarbha, recording a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius.

There was no let up today from scorching heat in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Vidarbha region of Maharashtra continues to reel under an intense heat-wave.After recording 46.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, the temperature in Bramhapuri again jumped to 47 degrees Celsius today, making it the hottest place in the region. Chandrapur and neighbouring Wardha were the second hottest with 46.5 degrees Celsius each.

While monsoon is set to enter Maharashtra by early next month, heat wave continued to burn parts of the state with mercury levels going as high as 47 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur district in Vidarbha region.
