Heavy Rains Lashes Lucknow

Nine more people have died as heavy rains lashed Uttar Pradesh for the third day taking the death count to 28, while a red alert was sounded on Tuesday in six districts including the worst-hit Barabanki and Gonda.

As many as 27 people were killed as heavy rains wreaked havoc in different parts of Uttar Pradesh , a government spokesperson said in Lucknow today.

Residents of the Uttar Pradesh capital woke up to heavy rains Saturday that brought down the temperature. The maximum temperature tumbled by three degrees to settle at 23.9 degrees Celsius.

Four persons lost their lives in rain-related incidents as heavy rains lashed parts of Uttar Pradesh and rivers like Sharda, Quano, Rapti and Budhi Rapti were flowing above danger mark.

Heavy rains lashed Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh early on Thursday, bringing respite from the hot and muggy weather. The downpour is likely to continue for the next few days, a Met department official said.
