The Supreme Court today said it will set up a three-judge bench to hear a plea of Muslim girl students to sit for examinations in Karnataka government schools while wearing hijab.

The Supreme Court on Monday said it will consider setting up a three-judge bench to adjudicate the case related to wearing of the Islamic head covering in Karnataka schools following its split verdict.

In Saudi Arabia, the abaya is no longer permitted in exam rooms, and female students must wear school uniforms.

Hijab Ban: Following a split verdict on hijab ban, the Supreme Court today directed that appeals against a Karnataka High Court order be placed before the Chief Justice of India for the setting up of a larger bench.
