Hooch Tragedy In Unnao

The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended nine officials of the excise department and transferred the superintendent of police (SP) of Unnao district after five people died of consuming illicit liquor, officials said today.

Close on the heels of the hooch tragedy that claimed 41 lives in Lucknow and Unnao, more than 700 litres of illicit liquor has been seized from various parts of the district with the police arresting 43 persons in this connection.
