House Help Thrashed

A 13-year-old girl was stripped, thrashed with a hammer and iron rod, and her mouth taped by a woman and her two sons who kept her as a house help in Gurugram, according to a police complaint filed by the young girl's mother.

Police registered a case against a man in Palghar district of Maharashtra on Thursday on the charge of severely beating a 13-year-old boy, whom he illegally employed as his domestic help, for coming late to work, an official said.

An Army officer and his wife have been arrested in Assam for allegedly torturing their underage domestic help and inflicting severe injuries that included broken teeth and burn marks on her body, said sources.

A 48-year-old woman, who worked as a house help, was allegedly thrashed by her employers who also chopped off her hair in West Delhi's Rajouri Garden, police said on Thursday.
