Housing Subsidy Scheme

The announcements were made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024-25.

This scheme is linked to 'credit linked subsidy scheme' under 'Pradhan Mantri Awasd Yojana-Housing For All'.

DDA Housing Scheme 2019, the programme is also linked to the Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme under the government's affordable housing initiative, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY)-Housing For All (URBAN).

Last month, the committee also sanctioned construction of 2.67 lakh affordable houses for the poor in 10 states.

The carpet area - or the area enclosed within the walls excluding wall thickness - has been raised to 160 square metres for MIG -I and 200 square metres for MIG-II, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Credit-linked subsidy scheme is aimed at benefiting people by providing interest subsidy on the purchase or construction of a house.

The Cabinet has approved the increase in the carpet area of MIG houses eligible for interest subsidy under the credit linked subsidy scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
