Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar on Monday told a Mumbai court that certain comments made by filmstar Kangana Ranaut during an interview to a news channel after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020 were "nothing but a lie".

Actor Hrithik Roshan today arrived at the office of the Mumbai Police Commissioner to record his statement with the Crime Branch in connection with his 2016 complaint that someone impersonating him had been emailing actor Kangana Ranaut from a bogus mail id.

Mumbai Police's Crime Branch has summoned actor Hrithik Roshan to record a statement in connection with his 2016 complaint about fake emails in his name to Kangana Ranaut, an official said on Friday.

"Chor agar chori nahi karega, toh police kya karegi?" Hrithik asks in the video

"Reminds me that serious issues can also be handled with a little sense of humour," tweeted Hrithik

Emgee Properties has already filed a complaint with Panaji police against Ms Khan for alleged fraud of Rs 1.87 crore. Ms Khan has challenged the FIR before Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court

"If the court does not issue the notice then the police will not be able to probe the complaint further due to lack of information," Inspector Kalpana Gadekar, who filed the application said

"It's in everyone's best interest to cooperate with police, so the true facts come out. What is true, what is false, is to be decided by police and the courts and not through the media. As a law-abiding citizen, Kangana should cooperate with authorities like Hrithik is doing," said Hrithik's lawyer

A senior police officer from cyber police station said, "We are investigating the matter. Hrithik had given information about impostor conversing through the e-mail ID hroshan@email.com. We traced the IP address of the ID, and got location of a place in America

Kangana, 29, and Hrithik, 42, have exchanged legal notices. Kangana has also been named in a First Information Report or FIR filed by Hrithik against an 'imposter' who allegedly corresponded with Kangana pretending to be him

A feud between actors Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan that started with different versions of whether they dated, has leapfrogged from tabloid fodder to swapped legal notices and now, a cyber-crime case. The Mumbai police has asked to see Ms Ranaut at a police station within a week.

A crime branch officer confirmed the development to mid-day and said that the actor himself visited the police station on Friday, March 25, along with his lawyer and lodged the complaint. The 42-year-old actor is the complainant in the case and not his legal representative, the source said

"It has all gone ugly. Their (from Hrithik's side) statement is subdued. He (Hrithik) is deviating from the matter. We are waiting for their next move. But we want the matter to end soon," said Kangana's lawyer. "We would just request the police to speed up the matter," said Hrithik's lawyer

Local resident Ashraf Khan complained about the loud music and also the vehicles haphazardly parked outside creating a snarl at that unearthly hour.
