Rajasthan Court Relief To Filmmaker In FIR Over Web Series "Ashram"

The Rajasthan High Court on Monday ordered the police to take "no coercive action" against Bollywood filmmaker Prakash Jha over an FIR lodged against him allegedly for hurting Dalit sentiments by the "objectionable" depiction of the community in his web series "Ashram".

The makers of Tandav, a Hindi language political show now streaming on Amazon Prime, will face tough legal action for hurting Hindu sentiments, the Uttar Pradesh government has said. A police case has reportedly been filed against various persons involved in the show at a Lucknow police station.

Jaipur Literature Festival organiser Sanjoy Roy's arrest over the alleged castetist remarks by sociologist Ashis Nandy has been stayed by the Rajasthan High Court. An FIR was filed against Mr Roy and Mr Nandy last week, charging them with criminal Intimidation and for hurting sentiments of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe community.
