Iaf Rescues Trekker

The body of a 39-year-old missing Italian trekker was found while an injured mountaineer was rescued in a separate operation by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Ladakh, officials said on Sunday.

Seven people, including three trekkers, who were stranded along the Pandav Shera trek in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district for the last few days were safely rescued on Monday with the help of IAF helicopters, officials said.

A trekker who fell at least 300 feet into a gorge at Nandi Hill, about 60 km from Bengaluru, was on Sunday rescued by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the national and State disaster response forces, a police official said.

The Air Force has launched a massive rescue operation in Uttarakhand's Lamkhaga Pass at an altitude of 17,000 feet where 17 trekkers, tourists, porters, and guides lost their way on October 18 due to heavy snowfall and inclement weather.
