The World Health Organisation has said more than 20 lakh people enrolled themselves in the first year of a quit- tobacco initiative of the Indian government and also advocated usage of mobile technology for personalised advice on the same.

Union Minister J P Nadda Launches IT-Enabled Tool To Help Quit Tobacco

The Centre today launched four IT-based health care initiatives including an audio-based mobile service which will deliver weekly messages to families about pregnancy and child birth, an IT-enabled tool to help quit tobacco, and a dedicated helpline for Tuberculosis patients.
